Grammy-winning singer Pink said that when she performs in Florida, she will distribute books that are prohibited in the state’s schools.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-283897″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-pink-1699942835443-1699942836139-11zon.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com pink 1699942835443 1699942836139 11zon” width=”1210″ height=”680″ title=”Pink's Florida Show Will Include Thousands Of Banned Books Giveaway 6″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-pink-1699942835443-1699942836139-11zon.jpg 550w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-pink-1699942835443-1699942836139-11zon-390×220.jpg 390w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-pink-1699942835443-1699942836139-11zon-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1210px) 100vw, 1210px” />

Since I was a little kid, books have brought me much delight. For this reason, I refuse to watch as books are prohibited in classrooms,” Pink said.

The discussion over book bans has centered on Florida, and Pink’s proposal was developed in collaboration with PEN America, a national organization that supports free expression.

According to aceshowbiz.com, they have selected four books to be given away to fans: Todd Parr’s “The Family Book,” Stacia Deutsch’s “Girls who Code,” Toni Morrison’s “Beloved,” and Amanda Gorman’s poem, “The Hill We Climb,” which she performed during Joe Biden’s inauguration in January 2021.

In the 2022–2023 academic year, 3,362 book bans were filed in US public schools using PEN America’s database of banned books. Of them, more than 40%, or 1,406 incidents involving book bans, occurred in school districts in Florida.

The Parental Rights in Education Act was overseen by the 44-year-old Republican governor of the state, Ron DeSantis, when it was enacted in 2022. The ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law, as it is often known, forbids primary schools from talking about gender identity or sexual orientation.
